I am Saxophonist and Flutist who makes Improvised Music, Compositions, and Transdisciplinary Performance
My name is Ulrike Schwarz. I am a saxophonist and flutist working in the fields of improvisation, composition, and transdisciplinary performance. My improvisations move between free jazz and chamber music, between groove and noise.
My compositions draw on jazz and contemporary music and weave together a wide range of musical influences, from Baroque to brass band traditions. In transdisciplinary performance projects, I explore the expressive potential of instrument, voice, movement, and space.

Radical Acceptance of the PRESENT
Encounter and space are the central themes of my artistic work. When I improvise, a special space opens up for me: all preparations become irrelevant the moment I step onto the stage with my fellow musicians. The better I succeed in going on stage without expectations, the greater the chance that something will emerge that transcends us and touches everyone. In this radical acceptance of the present, the full richness of my musical influences, my lived improvisational encounters, and my life experience becomes available to me. From this richness, I draw and connect. My audience witnesses the creation of music in real time and is drawn into this very moment.
